On gratitude and kicking things:

I always thought Kickstarter was used to start businesses.

Maybe that’s what it once was. Maybe that’s what it still is for some.

But everything I have backed and most of what I have seen has been more along the lines of “Give us money and we will make things and give you things.”

Which made me wonder what it was. Was it a complicated store, then?

It is also not a store. Not really.

Because in my case and in the case of many others, we are asking for money to put right back into the art. I’m not making a profit. Not by a long shot. All of the money and more is already planned for and virtually spent.

What I am gaining is the privilege and opportunity to do something very important to me that I otherwise could not have done.

Find the Starlight was an idea for so damned long. And now it is a very real thing that is about to get much more real. And I don’t know how else this would have happened.

I have a lot of friends in tech and powerthis and supermegathats who can spend $4k on breakfast then throw half of it away and laugh about it.

I’m not them. I’m a single dad who is trying to make two loving and happy adults.

So I mean it very sincerely when I say that I could not have done this - kept this part of me doing what it was made to do - if it was not for all of you.

And I will never forget that.
