It won’t always be like this.

I was in Las Vegas years ago. At the Luxor.

They had a stage set up in the bar that sits in the middle of the pyramid.

After some time, a band set up on it. They opened with Kool and the Gang’s Get Down on It. Because hell yes. There isn’t an ass capable of shaking that won’t shake to that.

So the people came from all around to shake those asses.

When the song ended, the band played Journey. Don’t Stop Believin’. Because hell yes. There isn’t a finger capable of pointing that won’t point at a band at the end of every syllable of that song.

So the people came from all around to point those fingers.

When the song ended, they played another Journey song.

Then another.

They were a Journey tribute band. One that had done a very impressive bait and switch with very unimpressive results. Because the people wanted what they came for. And they did not come for a Journey tribute band. You can only point so much before your ass wants some shaking, I suppose.

I made jokes here for four years and change. That was my thing. Then I found something else. Something I liked more. And now I’m a Starlight tribute band.

But it won’t always be like this. I promise. I’ll post about it less, then hardly at all. Mostly because I’ll vanish into it, and because it will have its own legs, but also because I understand the difference between Get Down on It and that one song from that one Journey album that wasn’t even the album with Don’t Stop Believin’ on it.

Find the Starlight needs people. That’s the black and white of it. And I need to do all I can to give it every chance to be as rewarding as it can be for everyone involved at any level.

This is that.
